Principal's Report

Assessment of BASE 1270
All outside of school hours services undertake an external assessment from time to time and yesterday we had our first official full day review. It will take a few weeks to receive a comprehensive assessment report, but early indications are very encouraging.
Given we are still fairly new to running an outside of school hours program, there will surely be a number of suggestions for improvement, however it was nice to be able to celebrate the progress that has been made in a short space of time.
A big thank you must be made to Liam Rigby, our Program Coordinator, who has done an outstanding job and is responsible for us being in such a good position. Liam has been well supported by Kim Dargaville (Assistant Program Coordinator), Mel Crimeen (Administrative Officer) and the team of Educators who do an excellent job.
Liam will be leaving us at the end of the year as he embarks on a teaching career. As such, we will be advertising the Program Coordinator position very soon. If you are interested and would like more information, please pop in and see me. If you know someone that would be perfect for the role, please let them know about this opportunity.
Remembrance Day Service
As always, our school community was represented at the local Remembrance Day Service in Buninyong. Mrs Sullivan accompanied our school captains to lay a wreath at the local service yesterday. We also held a minutes silence at school and teachers helped the children understand the significance of the day.
Grandparents & Special Friends Day
Grandparents and Special Friends Day is a highlight of the annual calendar and this year’s event was enormous as always. We had a large number of visitors at both campuses and it was obvious that everyone was having a lovely time. It’s really nice to see the pleasure our students get from having their grandparent or special friend take interest in their schooling. Likewise, it’s nice to see our visitors take great pride in the special little people in their lives.
A big thank you to all those who helped out with morning tea. Our grandparents love a good morning tea and we had plenty stay back to enjoy a chat with a cuppa and some food. Thanks also to our team of grade 6 students who did an excellent job guiding our visitors around the school and waiting on our guests for morning tea.
