Music

Music Theory

This week in Music, we have been practicing our treble clef notes. The students enjoy learning about the lines and spaces of the treble clef, and they quiz each other using their fingers to represent the five lines of the music staff. It certainly has increased the speed and accuracy of their music reading skills.

Start Up Strings Reminder

Now that our students in Start Up Strings are having an individual lesson each week, there will be only one group session before school. Thursday is the day we will meet in the hall.

On the events calendar for this term we have: -

Strings & Choir Night: - Thursday 8th December, 7pm School Hall.

Auditions for ‘Naughty’: - One of the songs we will be rehearsing in years 3 to 6 is ‘Naughty’ from the Musical ‘Matilda’. Six students are needed for the choreography. I will audition those keen to perform in about Week 8. The link for the choreography and song is here: -

Soloists Concert – Well done to the students who have played at these concerts this week.

Italian Day Folk & Social Dancing: - On November 24th, we will be celebrating Italian Day at Ivanhoe Primary. In Music, students from Foundation through to Year Six are preparing four dances to compliment the day. The dances are The Tarantella, Birdie Dance, La Vinca and Mambo Italiano. There may be a few prizes for best dancers on the day!

A number of students who are new to the school may find ‘Mambo Italiano’ challenging to learn. Here’s a link that explains the steps and sequences for this dance: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQSFqX3MNdA
