MARMION AVE AND SEACREST DRIVE INTERSECTION

Recently, the RAC Risky Roads report identified the corner of Marmion Avenue and Seacrest Drive as WA’s riskiest traffic intersection.

Sacred Heart’s P&F Committee is seeking your views as it plans to make representations to the Main Roads Department for consideration of a roundabout installation at that intersection.

Main Roads recently provided statistics to the P&F Committee, highlighting that there had been 27 car crashes in the past five years, with 12 of those accidents being major crashes at the intersection.

In addition, the City of Joondalup has approved a new childcare centre on Seacrest Drive opposite the Seacrest Medical Centre which will generate additional traffic, parking and road safety risks for families and students travelling to school.

As many students from Sacred Heart and other local schools walk, scooter or cycle through this intersection, there are significant safety risks for them. Parents/caregivers from our school also get held up at the intersection after dropping off or picking up students. The intersection is particularly dangerous to cross in peak hour traffic.

A roundabout would better regulate traffic flow, enabling cars to safely cross over Marmion Avenue and offer easier entry and exit onto Seacrest Drive.

The P&F asks that parents/caregivers and Year 12 students who are driving (or will be soon) fill out the survey below to express their support for improved safety conditions at the intersection of Marmion Avenue and Seacrest Drive. The survey consists of three 'yes'/'no' style questions and will take no longer than two minutes to complete.

Thank you in advance.
