Riley House Dinner

Being in lockdown for almost two years was exhausting and took away most of the school's events and competitions including house dinner. However, this year we welcomed the year 7, 8 and 9s to one of the school's most beloved events, House Dinners.

Early in Term 3, we were told the themes: Riley would be a Masquerade Theme, Jenkin was the Yule Ball, Millward was the Roaring 20s, Aherne was Celebrities, Jones was the Met Gala and Frew had Mid Summer Mystery. Everyone was bustling with excitement that they would actually go ahead.

When the day came, everyone looked beautiful, and the energy was full of excitement. We all went in, and everyone clapped and cheered for the year 12s on the red carpet to congratulate them on thirteen years of school.  We had acts from all year levels. Some were above expectation, others... well, they were also great.  We then had a few music performances from talented musicians. They were all spectacular. It is impressive how much talent is in our school. John Nankivell stole the show with his guitar playing. He even changed his guitar midsong as he broke a string!

Zoe MacGregor of 11 Riley was awarded the McWater’s Medal. She has consistently demonstrated the values of Riley House; By Our Deeds, We Shall Be Known, with her dedication and determination in all that she does.

The food was above average for a school event, and the venue was very nice and well-decorated by the House Captains. With brownies or pavlova for dessert. I have to admit a massive highlight of the night was the photo booth. The queues could have gone on for miles.  However, most photos turned out to be very funny and sweet. Overall it was a joyful evening full of fun and music. It was one of the highlights of the year. We are all very grateful for the school to be able to put on events like this again.

Thank you to all the House Captains, the Head Of Houses, the Technicians Team, the Marketing Team and all the rest of the School for this opportunity.
