Primary School Welcome

From the Principal

Located on the land of the Menang people of the Noongar nation and shaped by the shoreline of Oyster Harbour, we are a proud independent Christian coeducational day and boarding school for students Pre-Kindergarten to Year Twelve.

For over 25 years, Great Southern Grammar has been pursuing excellence in school education for regional, rural and remote students and their families.

The culture of the School is underpinned by a Christian ethos and the values of respect, integrity, compassion and commitment. These are evident in all we do and say.

We embrace diversity, choose inclusion and shape a deep sense of belonging for all members of our community. At Great Southern Grammar, relationships matter.

We believe that every child should be supported to embark on a journey of discovery and empowered to craft their own pathway towards mastery.

I personally believe the inherent purpose of education is to shape supportive and challenging learning experiences that develop holistic knowledge and skills, leading students to understand themselves and their place in the world. This approach nurtures personal success and the promotion of active participation in civic life.

Making a choice for your child’s education is one of the most important decisions you will make as a family. Every school is unique, and I strongly encourage you to experience what our school has to offer academically, pastorally and beyond the classroom by visiting the campus, perusing the website, reaching out to the Community Relations Team or contacting me, personally.

I can’t wait to develop a positive partnership with you and your family as we place your child at the centre of an extraordinary learning experience at our school.

Great Southern Grammar is truly an extraordinary place to work, learn and play.

Go well!

Mr Mathew Irving  | Principal

From the Head of Primary School

I extend a warm welcome to all families of Great Southern Grammar.

We are committed to the education and care of the individual, catering for the spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and emotional development of each child.

Our students love coming to school. Learning is an adventure at GSG, where students are nurtured, supported and encouraged to challenge themselves academically, culturally and spiritually.  We aim to inspire in our students a love of learning as they progress from Pre-Kindergarten to Year Six.

We are proud of the broad foundations that are laid through the vibrant, child-centred approach of the Primary School and we build on this solid base with rigorous curriculum, plenty of laughter and play.

Collaboration, cooperation and communication between students, parents and teachers are essential for successful learning. Dedicated, professional staff go above and beyond in providing a dynamic learning environment that encourages children to strive for personal excellence. Teachers are supported in this by a pastoral care framework based on Christian values which promote healthy relationships and a sense of emotional wellbeing.

I encourage all families to work with us in forging strong partnerships between home and school. Positive relationships make GSG more than just a school; they make us the Great Southern Grammar community.

I look forward to sharing your child’s learning journey with you.

Mrs Leah Field | Head of Primary
