Year 7 Art Semester 2 - Masks

For this task, the students studied masks from different cultures to help them with inspiration for their Mask artwork. The students were to include either a landscape or cityscape or both. Sensational effort. Well done Year 7.

Year 8 Art Semester 2 - Appropriation

In Year 8 art this term, we were asked to appropriate a famous artwork. Recreating a famous artwork seemed like a huge challenge but it made it even more interesting to be able to put our own twist on it. Before starting the piece, we learnt about different art movements to ensure that we had a thorough understanding of the original art piece. After looking into different artworks from history, we thought about which art movement we liked and choose a piece. It was important to think about how we were going to edit the art to create the right effect, using traditional and contemporary techniques. The medium we used acrylic paint and canvas paper to achieve the end result. We found out lots about art history whilst also being able to express our own creativity, which is what art’s all about!
