Hip Hop Incursion and beyond...

Last Thursday June 8th the whole school had an opportunity to participate in a fabulous Hip Hop session. Both students and teachers were fully engrossed in the task of making their body move to the beat and creating an exciting hip hop routine choreographed by Ange form STOMP dance company. Students from Prep to Year six showed smiles and focus reflecting the level of fun they were having. below are a few snaps from the day.

Dance and movement provides students with a means of self expression and exercise. Both important to their physical and mental health  & well being and we should encourage them to participate whenever an opportunity arises. With each positive experience our students' confidence grows!

Other news about Performing Arts this semester... the junior classes have spent time moving to the beat and  creating rhythms using instruments and dance to help learn about these elements                                                                                 of music.

The middle school (threes and fours) have taken this concept even further by reading notes and performing in small groups. The seniors are thrown themselves fully into West African Drumming, exploring more complex rhythms and how to create a 'groove' using multiple rhythms at once. Of course a lesson would not be complete without some moving & grooving to music.

Next semester will see students learning Circus arts and developing their drama skills. We are all looking forward to more fun and adventures.
