Nautical Numeracy

The Year 11 students have been learning about design, concentrating specifically on the design of boats.  They investigate how and why boats float, what materials are most buoyant and then the students designed their own boat, constructed it and sailed it.  They then had to estimate the capacity of their boat using coins.  Each boat was then tested and the estimates checked by adding coins to each boat until it sunk.
