What's happening in the 3/4 classrooms

Welcome back to Term 4! We are so excited that all Middle School students have returned to onsite learning. It has been a very challenging time for everyone at Holy Family over the last few months and we congratulate all students and families for their commitment and the efforts during home learning.  The first few days back at school have been fantastic as students reconnect with their peers and settle into a more familiar routine.

Our focus for Term 4 will be on Wellbeing. This will include supporting students to understand and enhance their wellbeing across the domains of mind, body and spirit. Throughout this Inquiry topic, students will explore in-depth “What makes me a well being?”

In Religious Education, the 3/4 students will be focusing on the Catholic Social Teaching (CST) ‘Dignity of the Human Person’. This CST outlines the importance of people being treated with dignity and equity. As part of their learning, students will think deeply about and reflect on God’s command to love one another. Towards the end of the term, students will learn about the liturgical season of Advent and joyful anticipation of the lead up to Christmas. At the end of the year, students will also explore the Nativity of Jesus through Scripture, story and art.

In Literacy, students will learn about different types of Poetry. This includes Haiku, Limericks, Rhyming, Cinquain and Acrostic. As part of this unit, students will be able to display creativity and humour and have the opportunity to share this learning with their peers. Students will also continue to learn and apply comprehension strategies for reading throughout Term 4.
