Halogen Young Leaders Day- by James Hayne, Luke Jeffrey and Lily Canham

On Monday 2nd March the St Xavier’s school leaders attended the National Young Leaders Day at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour. There were over five thousand students from other primary schools from across NSW. The day was all about motivating young people to strive for excellence and become people who can lead others. There were four inspirational speakers on the day.

Erin Molan (Australian television sports presenter with the Nine Network) was the first speaker and talked about persevering and never giving up. Rove McManus (an Australian triple Gold Logie award-winning comedian, television and radio presenter, producer and media personality) told us to choose our own paths and not let others decide our destiny. Bianca Chatfield (an Australian retired netball player who featured on The Block) told us to follow our dreams and encourage others to do the same. John Coutis (was born with a severe disability that rendered him a double amputee, John defied medical opinion by refusing to die) encouraged us never to run from our problems no matter how hard life gets. He was hilarious and the best speaker of the day!

All of the speakers gave us great advice about how to become better leaders. We definitely learnt a lot and will remember the day for a long time!

Year 5 Great Aussie Bush Camp

Year 5 have had an amazing couple of days at the Great Aussie Bushcamp. They have participated in so many activities including; canoeing, big swing, visiting the beach, kayaking, swimming, navigational games and of course sharing a cabin with friends.

They arrive home late this afternoon and we can't wait to hear all about it!
