Principals Message

Dear Parents,

We are currently looking at our policy on school/parent communication. We believe that quality relationships are at the core of St Xavier’s School and the importance of good communication cannot be underestimated.

Good communication between parents/carers and staff  is essential to provide the best possible education for our students. This communication is not just about the school communicating but requires parents, students and staff to feel able to communicate their aspirations, concerns and ideas.

We believe that parents play the primary role in every aspect of the child’s development.  Therefore it is important that the channels of communication between teachers and parents are open to honest and confidential discussion.

We aim for the following;

That parents will feel welcome and secure in cooperating with teachers for the best educational and wellbeing outcomes for their child.

Parents will be kept informed of policy and curriculum implementation, student growth in learning and student happiness and wellbeing.

We are assessing the procedures for the use of the SEESAW App, Chatbooks and emailing. We also need to identify where parents are up to in their use of COMPASS.

The  COMPASS program has an ever expanding group of modules such as;

These modules are being slowly introduced to staff and families. COMPASS will eventually be a one stop shop for all communication for every school in our Diocese.

The other aspects of communication are those that directly involve a child’s growth and development. We will be doing some professional learning around parent/teacher meetings and student led conferences next term.

Please use the following link to complete a very short questionnaire that will assist us in developing more refined  practices that allow you to be more closely involved in your child's education. Please do so by Monday March 16th.

Kind regards,

Jen Honner
