Wuggles and Ellie
The nights are getting cooler and longer for Wuggles and Ellie, that just means more reading!!!
They’ve also told me they can’t wait for National Simultaneous Storytime and our Book Fair this month. They love seeing children get excited about reading! Here’s what they told me they loved reading over the last few weeks:
National Simultaneous Storytime
Wednesday 22 May is National Simultaneous Storytime! Tarneit P-9 College will be participating in this event with an aim of getting over 1 million kids reading. This year the focus will be on Alpaccas with Maracas. We are very excited and looking forward to our reading time.
Get out your paper and pen and start writing!
Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair is coming up later this month!
Get ready for some serious reading!
Wish List Week: Monday 27 May – Friday 31 May
Book Buying Week: Monday 3 June – Friday 7 June
8.30am - 9.00am and 3.00pm - 4.30pm
Please note: Tuesday 28 May - open until 5.30pm

We would love some helpers during the book fair to help with wish lists and student’s purchasing.
If you have any spare time, please let us know at the junior library opposite reception.
CAN YOU HELP??
The Junior and Senior library requires volunteers to assist from
9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3pm
Monday to Friday during school term.
Jobs will include:
- Stamping and folding brochures
- Labelling, stamping and security tagging books
- Shelving books and tidying library shelves
- Book Covering - Training will be provide
If you can spare 1 hour or more or would like to assist on a regular basis,
Please advise, via school email tarneit.p9@edumail.vic.gov.au or drop by and see our College Librarian Susan Grieve in the Senior Library located on the first floor in Building C or the Library Assistant, Sharee Ainsworth in the Junior Library located near Reception.
New volunteers please note:
- All volunteers need to provide the school with a valid Working with Children check. Visit http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au for more information or to apply. (We are more than happy to assist you with this process.)
- Visitor, Parent Helpers & Volunteer Working Handbook must be read and the form signed and returned to the office, this will be given to you at the Library induction.
- All visitors must sign in and out of the College via the visitors’ book, located at the office.
- Visitors will be given a lanyard to wear, indicating to staff and students that they are allowed to be in the school and at the Library.
- Volunteers with younger children are also welcome to help in the library.
