Principal's Report

School Council Election and Nominations -Result 4 Nominations

We have 4 nominations to fill the 4 vacancies, therefore we do not need to go to a ballot. Congratulations to: Fiona Hall, Lloyd Lazaro, Chris Roche as existing members, and we welcome our newest member Christine Robinson to our 2020 School Council. Chris Roche has moved from the Community Member to a Parent Member.  At the March meeting our school council members will select a community member to fill the vacancy.

I would like to acknowledge our retiring school council members: Niccy Farrow and Mayank (Mark) Seth. Thank you for your contributions and participation. We are privileged to have hard working families who contribute to a range of activities and committees to ensure our school continues to improve.

At the recent February school council meeting the 2020 AIP (Annual Implementation Plan) was approved with actions and targets.

Working Bee on Saturday March 21st 9.00am-12.00pm

Rangeview PS relies on Working Bees to help to maintain the extensive grounds that we’re very fortunate to have.

We are asking that each family attend at least one Working Bee during the year to help keep the playgrounds and surrounding areas safe and well maintained for our children.

Not only are Working Bees an opportunity to contribute to your children’s school, but they are also a great opportunity to meet other parents at the post-Working Bee barbeque.

We have scheduled 4 Working Bee dates for 2020, including Saturdays or Sundays to provide flexibility to families who may have weekend commitments. Working Bees start at 9am and run for approximately 2- 3 hours. Children are very welcome to attend. We finish with a barbeque.

Nude Food

There has been a collective effort to reduce the litter in our school yard and it is working because students are eating inside and only permitted to take nude food outside. There are grey plastic food bins for lunch boxes near classroom doors for the students who need more time to eat.

Thank you for helping educate our children on how to reduce the waste we generate. We continue to look at projects that reinforce this message because together we can make a difference.

Class Ambassadors Meeting

If you are interested in supporting your child’s classroom teacher, please complete the online form in the Parents & Friends page of this newsletter. The first class ambassadors meeting was postponed to allow time for the list of classes and parents to be finalised and will now be held on Tuesday, 3rd March in the staff room, commencing at 9.05am.

Vegetables for Sale

Please come and visit us in the office foyer on a Tuesday after school to purchase some of  the vegetables and herbs the children have been growing.  They are as fresh as you can get them and I guarantee you can taste the freshness.

Corona Virus

Extension of travel restrictions

The travel restrictions for foreign nationals travelling to Australia from mainland China have been extended for a further week. These restrictions will now remain in place until 29 February, at which time they will be reviewed by the Commonwealth.

There are no changes to the existing advice regarding anyone who has returned from mainland China – that parents/guardians/carers should ensure that any child returning from mainland China (not including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) on or after 1 February 2020 is isolated at home and should not attend school until 14 days after they were last in mainland China.

This same advice applies to any impacted staff.

As per previous advice, all students should be attending school, except those in the categories identified by the Commonwealth’s Chief Medical Officer and Victoria’s Chief Health Officer as requiring self-isolation.
