2020 Performing Arts

Semester One

Hi everyone,

I am so very excited to be the Performing Arts teacher for 2020!  It is only the second year of this fabulous program being rolled out and what an amazing opportunity for the students to learn new skills, gain confidence and to work cooperatively with their peers. The students have been extremely excited to come to class and have been participating with so much enthusiasm.

Preps - This term preps will be exploring the dramatic elements of voice, movement, space and facial expression through a number of improvisation games, which will equip them with the skills to be able to work on a more formal performance in a team next term.

Grade 1/2- This term the grade ones and twos will be exploring the dramatic elements of voice, movement, space, situation, facial expression and role through a number of improvisation games.

Grade ones will develop the skills needed to effectively retell a story and grade twos will use the dramatic elements to begin developing characters.

Grade 3/4- This term the grade threes and fours will explore the dramatic elements of voice, movement, language, role and relationships, and time and place through a number of improvisation games. Grade 3s will also be introduced to simple scripts to explore time, place and tension, while the grade 4s will delve deeper into script work and begin developing characters.

Grade 5/6- The grade fives and sixes will explore the dramatic elements and techniques of voice and movement to create characters, mood and atmosphere. They will develop their focus and learn how to use the skills they have developed to devise simple scenes with a team. The grade 5s will also delve into the differences between tragedy and comedy, while the grade 6s will develop characters and begin devising their own plays, based on historical events.
