Year 10 News

          Year 10's Tracking well

The Year 10 students have been tracking extremely well in almost all of their Positive Student Behaviour goals this term. This is a direct result of the hard work and cohesiveness these year 10 students have fostered though-out the year.

With a special mention to Mikeely Hone who has received the honour of being Student of the week* three times (*most posi-slips in a week).

The posi-slip data for this year, is the best this year level has ever achieved at Maffra Secondary College, with 13 weeks left of year 10 they have already passed their previous Posi-slips in total's since commencing at MSC in 2016.

ATTENDANCE AND LEARNING

This year we have been trying to increase student attendance rates especially at Year 10. We would really appreciate a text message to our attendance line on 0419 345 857, if your child is absent from school. This helps our attendance officer track students and improve our % attendance for each student.

Remember:

1 day a fortnight missed = 20 days a year = 4 weeks a year = Over 1.5 years of missed learning (P-12)

1 day a week missed = 40 days a year = 8 weeks a year = Over 2.5 years of missed learning (P12)

2 days a week missed = 80 days a year = 16 weeks a year = Over 5 years of missed learning (P12)

3 days a week = 120 days a year = 24 weeks a year = Nearly 8 years of missed learning (P-12)

   Farewell to our Student Teacher

This term the year 10 team and students have welcomed Jordan Stubbe to our team. Jordan a student teacher from Monash University is studying a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education with a minor in Math. Throughout his time here Jordan has contributed to the year 10 team, quickly becoming a respected staff member by the staff and students due to his ability to build strong relationships excellent, organisational skills and willingness to improve his practice.

The students were all full of praise for Jordan’s teaching:

“He’s a pretty good teacher, he always had time to help me one on one” – Josh White

“He changed his teaching so everyone could understand the information” – Chloe Richardson

“Jordan splits you up into learning groups to challenge everyone in the class to work collaboratively” – Jana Hennig

“You learn better because he took the time to get to know us as people” – Tori Smith

“Jordan’s teaching was very good, because he made the learning more hands on and fun” – Rhys Rose and Ryan Patmore

We wish Jordan all the best with his teaching career, and if his teaching round is anything to go by, he will be very successful in his chosen Career.
