Curriculum

The Discovery Centre had a great week to start Term 4! We welcome back Hamish Burrill (Deakin Student) who will be completing his final placement round in FC.

In Maths, students learnt how to use ordinal numbers to order objects in a set. They enjoyed participating in relay races and completing other activities such as decorating their very own ice cream to learn about this concept.

In Literacy, we began writing a speech based on the topic ‘All about me’. Students have thoroughly enjoyed sharing information such as their favourite food and colour. It has also been a wonderful opportunity for each student to identify one thing that makes them unique and special.

Students continued to explore how they convey different emotions during our Wellbeing sessions. In this interactive activity, we used iPads or mirrors to see how facial expressions change depending on the emotion we are feeling.

As part of our Guided Inquiry unit ‘Topsy Turvy Tales’, students read a number of fairytales last week. We will explore the fairytales in more depth throughout the term, with the aim for students to understand the importance of creativity and imagination.
