Curriculum
Camp week has finally arrived! It’s hard to believe that we are finally here after much anticipation!
Last week in Reading, we focused on selecting ‘Just Right Books’ and building our reading stamina. Each class focused on selecting a good reading spot to ensure that we can focus to build our stamina. In addition, we looked at prefixes and how they can change the meaning of a base word.
In Writing, we set our Term Four goals! Each student set a goal for Reading, Writing, Maths and a Personal Skill area. We focused on finding strategies to help us achieve these goals. They will be shared to Seesaw - so be sure to keep an eye out and leave a comment!
Number sentences was our Maths focus. All classes explored equivalent and balanced number sentences! For example 2+3 = 10-5. In addition to this, we started to look at the order of operations (BODMAS), and how this can help us to approach complex problems that use more than one of the operations.
Our new Guided Inquiry topic for the term is Creativity! We looked at what the word creativity means to us and started to make a flip book animation. We watched some videos and explored how we can slightly alter an image for each new page to create an animation.
CAMP! Camp has finally arrived! We have been waiting so eagerly for this week. All students need to arrive at school at normal school time (8:50am) and the bus will leave shortly after. For the first day, students must have a packed lunch and snack for the day. It is extremely important that everyone brings along a labelled drink bottle, as they will need to take it around to their activities during each day. Please also ensure your child has a sun smart hat. Please check the weather forecast and pack appropriately, and bring along a plastic bag in case of wet clothing.
Have a great week, we can’t wait to head off to Portsea on Wednesday!
