Dickins Room
It was a beautiful week in the kinder, with the sun shining and the children engaged and focused. Our Wimbi class loved having their grandparents and special visitors come in to Kinder on Tuesday !They had chosen songs to sing for a concert and had been busy practicing in the lead up.
It was a great morning, the visitors really enjoyed the concert and stayed for a play in the sandpit, the lego and on the yard. I think there were some even reliving some younger days! With the children so settled and engaged, we ran our in-door, out-door program, allowing the children the opportunity to explore both learning spaces and to engage and extend their identity and self awareness skills.
Our Marram class has had a huge week of learning around self Identity and the concepts of similar and different. We have been extending this through art, digital experiences and group discussions and the children have been able to link alot of prior knowledge and understanding in these moments. We explored symmetry, using half a photo of each child and getting them to draw their missing features, the notion of who they wanted to be when they were older and their favourite part of them. Asking the children to reflect like this establishes a strong sense of self and the ability to empathise and understand others needs or opinions.
We are looking forward to another huge week of learning and fun!

Moore Room
Another wonderful week of learning in the Moore room. We thoroughly enjoyed some warmer weather with some great outdoor moments. We discovered some new insects/worms as we further our discussions about the environment; butterfly cycles, bees and flowers to extend on our inquiries around nature and explore relationships with other living beings. We have started to harvest our beans and look forward to each group being able to pod them to then make a broad bean dip to try. We also took advantage of the groups combining more in the outdoors as they are gearing up and ready for school to be able to establish other networks through some great collaborative play – a picnic lunch was a great way to finish the day.
We are still very engaged in – and loving the ballet area. There has been some great scripts occurring allowing for participants to create their roles and enjoy some alternative music that also affords the children to identify; high/low, soft/loud, fast/slow through their bodies as they engage in this dramatic fun experience.
Cristina was able to use small and large group moments to enhance the Chinese program. She provided the children with a Hungry Caterpillar bingo game to support our butterfly inquiries which also supports math and literacy concepts.
Reminder: Wednesday 30th Oct – Foundation Orientation session 8.30 -9.30am for Mt. Pleasant enrolled children. Those not attending Mt. Pleasant Rd Primary School - the children still attend the usual session times.
We look forward to another great week of fun and learning.
Have an excellent week!
