Discovery Centre

Curriculum
Another fantastic week has passed in the Discovery Centre with students taking part in lots of different activities and the first session of Junior Rotations for Term 4.
In Literacy students learned about nouns and adjectives and had a go at making interesting sentences where they used adjectives to describe nouns. Following the lesson each student chose their favourite/most interesting adjective to add to our WOW word wall. After practising at home students presented their ‘All About Me’ speeches to the class. It was great to see the students focused on their voice projection, body language and eye contact, some students even added sizzling starts and used expression in their voices. Well done to all students who presented their speeches to the class. One student from each class will be chosen to present their speeches at assembly on Friday for the public speaking competition.
In Mathematics we continued to explore place value by looking at numbers made up of tens and ones. As an extension activity some students worked on numbers that include hundreds and thousands.
In Guided Inquiry we have been exploring fairy tales. Students have already worked with their group to decide on which fairy tale they will focus on this term. Last week students used their character strengths of creativity and perseverance to design and make puppets of their chosen character. We look forward to working on these fairy tales throughout the term.
Have a wonderful week,
Miss Erin Dawson, Miss Katrina Chooi, Mrs Samantha Tang, Miss Jessica Tossell
