Leadership Centre

Curriculum
The Leadership Centre have quickly settled back into routines at school after their incredible time away at Camp Coonawarra. On Monday, we enjoyed an extended Circle Time where we swapped funny camp stories and identified how we used different character strengths throughout the week. After some quality time reminiscing, students recorded their reflections and posted these on Seesaw. Parents - we would love for you to have a look at these reflections and leave a comment!
In Writing, students have been connecting their persuasive writing skills with their public speaking and preparing a speech on the topic of “When I am Prime Minister.” It has been great to see creative thinking, thoughtful reflections on problems in society and innovative potential solutions. Over the next few days, students will be presenting their speeches to their peers in preparation for the upcoming Public Speaking Competition.
In Maths, we have been focusing on volume, capacity and converting units of measurement. A highlight from the week has been our mathematical reasoning challenge where students were given the dimensions for 9 rectangular prisms and had to discover the volume and surface area. From this point, they had to arrange the shapes according to a set of criteria and justify their responses. Great teamwork, mathematical discussion and logic used throughout this task!
In Well-being, we are continuing to discuss positive emotions and how to manage the emotional roller coaster that we sometimes find ourselves on. Using our understanding of Zones and the tools from our toolbox, we are learning to recognise and articulate our emotions more clearly.
We are looking forward to another action packed week ahead!
