Uniform Shop Update

Toward the end of Term 1, we received feedback through a range of sources regarding concerns around the Marist College Ashgrove Uniform Shop.

We would like to assure you that we have heard these responses and are in the process of addressing these concerns on a number of levels, with Alinta and a number of College stakeholders.

We will endeavour to feedback to the community any clarifications or changes which occur regarding your concerns and would like to address some of these here:

Product Quality

As part of the tender process, Alinta provided the College with information outlining the quality of materials and processes used in their uniform production.  This was one of the highest of those who submitted tenders to the College.  This includes a 12-month warranty on all uniform items.

Should you have any concerns with the quality of uniforms purchased, please contact the shop immediately.

Moving forward, all warranty issues (including complaints and returned items to the shop) will be recorded and reported by Alinta to the College Uniform Committee for consideration.

Uniform Shop Operating Hours

We are in the process of reassessing uniform shop hours moving through Term 2 to include options which will see the shop open during some break times to enable boys to go to the shop without a parent.

Please be aware of the following changes to Uniform Shop hours for the beginning of Term 2, which include opening times during breaks:

Start of Term 2:

  • Tuesday 20 April – 7:30am-12:00pm (open Break 1)
  • Wednesday 21 April – 12:00pm-5:00pm (open Break 2)
  • Thursday 22 April – 7:30am-12:00pm (open Break 1)
  • Friday 23 April – 7:30am-12:00pm (open Break 1)

Term 2 Opening Hours (Weeks 2-9):

  • Mondays – 7:30am-12:30pm (open Break 1)
  • Tuesdays – 7:30am-10:00am
  • Wednesdays – 2:00pm-4:30pm
  • Fridays – 7:30am-12:30pm (open Break 1)

* In case of public holidays on a Monday, the shop will open from 7:30am-12:30pm on a Tuesday.

Wait Times and Stock Availability

Alinta has been made aware of the frustration around wait times and stock availability (in shop and what is shown online) and they are working with us to make changes in order to improve on these important areas of customer service.  (The lengthier opening hours above, which include break times for student access are one such example of this, as is the arrival of a second service terminal and a hands-free tablet enabling Alinta staff to process quick sales and identify online orders and laybys – and there will be more to come.)

Rugby and Football Socks (same across both codes – single yellow block)

These are now in stock for purchase in sizes L (7-11) and XL (11-14).

Rugby Jerseys (Year 5 – Open 2nds)

We are currently in discussions with the executive of the Old Boys’ Association regarding changes made to the rugby jersey this year.  Of particular note was the change to stripe size and the removal of the white-collar. Following recommendations taken from the Old Boys, further discussion regarding changes will be taken to the Uniform Committee for consideration.

Any return to thinner stripes and collar will not occur until the 2022 season.  We will explore change over options or extended transition times for those families who have purchased the new jerseys this year.

Further Concerns

Please continue to feedback to us any issues you may have with the Uniform Shop as we continue to ensure it is a well-functioning part of the College.  The best way to do this is by email to marist@marash.qld.edu.au.  Please place in the Subject line “Uniform”.

Thank You

As you know, the wearing of our uniform – academic, sporting and cultural – with pride, plays an important part in what makes Marist College Ashgrove such a great school to be part of. We are very grateful to all of you for the support you have shown in working with us to ensure your sons are wearing the right uniform; wearing it correctly; and wearing it with pride.
