Primary News

Mr Liam Beatty

Our end to Term 1 was certainly one to remember. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your support in assisting your sons as they negotiated online learning. I would also like to congratulate the boys for their efforts and showing resilience, maturity and initiative as they eagerly engaged in learning tasks. Of course, a big thank you also to our teachers for their professionalism in adapting so quickly to the challenge presented to them and ensuring continuity of learning for the students.

As we commence Term 2 our focus continues to be on the boys’ learning with Parent-Teacher Interviews held in person yesterday and continuing online next week. These conversations about your son’s progress are very valuable and provide a strong connection between home and school. Parents will be contacted in the coming weeks regarding additional meetings for students working on an Individual Educational Plan (IEP).

Term 2 is also one of the busiest terms in the College with many whole College events, a large amount of co-curricular opportunities and our Year 5 and Year 6 camps. As such, it is important to take the time to read the newsletter each week and continue to check the College calendar and app.

Welcome

We are pleased to welcome two new teachers to our Primary staff this week. Mrs Therese Taylor joins Year 6 White (Monday and Tuesdays) and Mrs Kylie Tippins takes on the role of Support Teacher – Inclusive Education for the Primary School. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Therese and Kylie and congratulating them on their appointments.

Uniforms

With the change of term comes a change in uniform for our students. This term boys are to wear their long sleeve shirt and tie. It was great to hear the boys speak so excitedly about the time they have spent practising tying their ties. Please note, on colder days, the only additional top to be worn with the grey uniform is the grey College pullover.

Primary Cross Country

We will hold our Primary Cross Country Carnival this Wednesday morning. Students are to wear their sports uniform, please see the Sport section below for more information.

Student Responsibilities to College Sport

I have received a number of parent enquiries regarding the College’s position in regards to representing the College versus club. The following is taken directly from the MCA Enrolment Agreement, and clearly states that the boys are expected to commit to College Sport ahead of any external sport providers;

co-curricular participation is required as part of the life of the College and integral to the growth and development of each student. Participation by all, according to the relative abilities of each student is mandatory. If a student has the ability in a co-curricular activity that is offered at the College, he would be expected to contribute by representing the College. This representation takes precedence over fixtures offered by outside organisations.

I thank you for your support and assistance in this matter.
