App Inventors Club
App inventors is a lunchtime Technology Club that develops Trinity students' creativity and coding skills by taking them through the design process to create their own application (app). The club is offered to students in Grades 1- 3 and is run by Miss Georgie and the Grade 5 and 6 Technology Leaders.
Students are working in groups and are currently in the initial planning stages of the design process. Students answered the following questions:
What is the application for?
How will the user interact with the application? (Voice, Touch, Type, Scroll, Drag)
What will the interface (screen) look like?
What will be the colour scheme for the application?
What will the application be named?
The students have decided they would like to create a game application. They will use the free coding applications Scratch Junior and Hopscotch, to design and code their game. The Digital Technology leaders will assist the students to integrate their scratch game with the application prototype tool Marvel. This will make the game created by the students appear real, with an apple ipad appearance (see Miss Georgie’s app example here).
