Debating & Maths Olympiads

Debating at Trinity

On Wednesday our Year 4, 5 and 6 students were all involved in Debating Classes as part of their learning. What an exciting opportunity this proved to be as our four visiting experts explained the basics of debating and provided the opportunity for our children to develop their arguments for and against a range of topics. They were then able to practise the skills of debating to convince an audience of their point of view.  I was lucky enough to see our amazing boys and girls in action as they argued and justified their thoughts on topics such as, Should the voting age be lowered to 12, Should violent video games be banned as well as other interesting topics.  It is hoped that some of our children may show the skills to be able to take on the challenge of debating senior students from other schools.

MATHS OLYMPIADS: JUNIOR DIVISION

Trinity Primary School has entered a number of our high achieving maths students into this year's 'Maths Olympiads' All of these students have been identified and have chosen to participate and to accept the challenge of extending their maths skills further through this amazing challenge.

'The Junior Division Olympiad (Division J) is specifically designed to stimulate and challenge students at primary school level. It teaches major problem solving strategies and strengthens students' mathematical intuition prior to starting high school. The majority of participants are high-achieving Year 5 and 6 students' however some advanced year 3 & 4 students are also able to participate.

We are very proud of all of these children and are confident they will do very well.

Here are some of them hard at work.
