YEAR 11 OUTDOOR ECUCATION

WILSONS PROM CAMP

On Monday 22nd, Yr11 OES headed to Wilsons Prom on our first camp of the year. Excitement and anticipation was high with surfing and bushwalking our major focus. We had an awesome first day taking in the sights of Pillar Point and Squeaky Beach followed by a classic surf session in waves at Norman Bay. The students cooked their dinner on trangias and Mr Boulter was very impressed with the quality of the cooking. Night activities included wombat spotting and planning for day two.

Unfortunately things turned sour pretty quickly. During the night the wind really escalated and around 4am the heavens opened up. We woke to find the camp very wet, though fortunately all of the tents stayed up, keeping most dry inside. After breakfast we were visited by the ranger who informed us that a serve weather warning had been issued and that we would need to leave the area as soon as possible. This meant that our three day  camp would be cut in half. Disappointing but understandable.

Well done to everyone and fingers crossed for our next camp/experience.
