Head of Studies Report

Year 11 and Year 12 exams will occur throughout the Term...

ATAR Semester 1 Exams

The Year 11 and 12 ATAR exams will occur throughout the Term. I encourage students to use their time wisely to revise for these exams and ask teaching staff if they need further assistance.

All exams will commence at 8.10am and will take between 2 - 3 hours to complete.  In accordance with the WA College of Agriculture – Denmark Assessment Policy, all students must sit the exam on the day/time period specified. The only exception to this requirement will be if the student has a medical certificate from a doctor confirming that the student was unable to participate on the day.  Any student who does not attend the exam and/or fails to provide a valid medical certificate, will receive a zero mark for the exam.

Vintage Time

Students have been processing grapes using the College grape crusher and press.  They are then required to monitor the wine during the fermentation process.

Nursery Operations

Mark Parre, Revegetation Officer from the Denmark Shire, was happy to show Plant Production Systems students the tree nursery and seed tunnel.  As part of the on-going working relationship with the Shire, students were involved in transplanting seedlings and later this term, will be rehabilitating local sites with trees grown from the nursery.

House Competition Red vs Green

The end of Term 1 House Competition between Red and Green had a great atmosphere with everyone getting involved. The competition was close, but it was all held in good spirit. It was encouraging to see lots of communication and co-operation amongst students of all year levels.

The afternoon revolved around cooperative/teambuilding games, with points awarded for winning events, sportsmanship and behaviour that encouraged a positive team spirit.

The end result was Red House winning with 50 points closely followed by Green House on 40 points. The points total will carry over to the next event, scheduled for June 4th, 2021.

An updated points table will be posted soon, after the results from the weekend equine event are added.
