Grade 5/6

Canberra Camp

Once again we would like to thank all the fantastic community businesses and school community on raising much needed fund for our Canberra Camp this term. Your efforts went a long way to help our students and families attend the camp. If you have spoken to some 5/6 students, they will tell you how much fun they had on their Canberra Experience.

A big part of reducing our funds comes from the PACER (Parliament and Civics Education Rebate) This program is an Australian Government initiative that provides financial assistance to support students on-site learning about national democratic, historical and cultural institutions in Canberra. Out of this rebate, we have saved $1665 on the total cost of camp, which adds to $45 for each student. Thank you to the PACER program for providing this outstanding service.

Thank you!

Earth Ed: Agents of Change

On 29th August, Meagan, Hank, Alex, Lillian, and I got invited to go to Earth Ed Specialist Centre to attend a two day environmental agents of change program. We all thought the Earth Ed building looked amazing! We got escorted inside and soon it had started. It started off by making sticky notes of ideas of how we could change the environment. Later, we started making a project that we all agreed on. Our big idea for the project was to take water from flood areas and transfer it to the drought affected lands and vending machines.  At the end of day 1, all schools were talking about Veena Sahajwalla, a leading expert in the field of recycling science. Meagan and I noticed that the big T.V was on a Facetime. A couple of minutes later Veena Sahajwalla joined the call. We talked about how she got to where she is now. It was very exciting to have the opportunity to chat with her. Our group worked very well together during the day and all the activities were interesting and fun. We all agreed on different ideas and solutions. Overall, the day was really fun.
