Student Learning
F10
On the 25th and 26th of August, F10 joined the other Year 4 students camping at Woodhouse. It was a fantastic opportunity for all of the Year 4 students to build friendships and get to know the rest of the Year 4 cohort a bit better. The students participated in Challenge Hill (a giant obstacle course), the Tube Slide, Laser Tag, Disc Golf and Survivor. They also spent some time trying to escape the Labyrinth. Survivor gave students the opportunity to practise some survival skills, where they learnt how to filter water, light fires and build shelters. The entire camp was an opportunity for the students to demonstrate the skills they have learnt throughout the year during Health / PE. Not only did the activities involve a lot of physical activity, with lots of walking, running and climbing, but also there were a lot of activities that required the students to move outside of their comfort zones, and to recognise that, even though they might feel a little bit scared, they were in a safe environment and it was ok to challenge themselves. In the evening, F10 caught up with all of the Year 4 students for an entertainment extravaganza. It was great to see how many students had prepared acts for the rest of the group - even if there were a lot of ‘dad jokes’. Laser Tag and the Tube Slide were big hits with F10, as was just being able to sleep over with friends (although Miss Ryan has some doubts about exactly how much ‘sleep’ was had).
Overall, everyone had a great time. We would like to thank Mrs Colarusso for taking the lead in organising this camp, as well as our parent volunteers, who came along to help us out.
