School Cricket Round 2

On Saturday we played Star of the Sea at our oval. Despite the rain earlier in the morning, the skies cleared just in time for our game. Unfortunately, it was still windy, but we managed our T20 game with a win. LNPS were 7/80 and Star of the Sea 6/74.

Playing in this round were Murray, Jasper, Cooper, Calvin, Mitchell, Chloe, Brendon and Ethan. Our wicket takers were Jasper, Chloe, Mitchell and Calvin. In C Grade, a wicket is worth 4 runs for the fielding team. Thanks to Mathew for umpiring for us, and to all the parents who helped set out the oval and pack away at the end of the day.

Our next game is this Saturday against Largs Bay Primary White team at Largs Bay at 8:30am. If you are willing to brave the weather on a Saturday morning, feel free to come along and support our kids.

All the parents agreed that cricket was the real winner on the day, but well done to both teams for having a go and having some fun.

School Cricket Round 3

This week our school cricket C Grade (Year 4/5) team played against Largs Bay Primary School White team at Largs North Oval. Thankfully it didn’t rain for us during the game, but the grass was still a bit slippery from the rain overnight.

LNPS won, taking an amazing 10 wickets (each one by the bowler!) for a total run score of 141, compared to Largs Bay White taking 4 wickets and a total run score of 91.

Playing this week was Cooper, Molly, Kobe, Hayley, Mitchell, Ethan, Jasper and Calvin. Calvin and Jasper were our wicket keepers. Calvin and Cooper were the captains. We loss the toss so had to field first.

A big thanks to Russell Eaton for umpiring for us.

Highlights of the three games so far are:

Molly improving her batting, getting more runs off the bat and getting extra runs for the team by running on a wide. Molly also nearly caught someone out (unlucky!) (Rnd 3) Kobe hitting six 4’s in Round 1. Hayley having a maiden over in Round 1 and taking two wickets in Round 3. Mitchell also improved his bowling and took 2 wickets. He also nearly caught someone out! (Rnd3) Ethan took his first wicket in Round 3. Cooper took his first two wickets for the season. (Rnd 3) Jasper taking 2 wickets and bowling a maiden over in Round 2. Brendon improving his runs off the bat in Round 2 from Round 1. Calvin took one wicket each in Round 2 and 3. Chloe took two wickets in Round 2. Murray improving his runs off the bat in Round 2 from Round 1.

Considering that we have only had one training session (two were cancelled due to the heat and another due to Community Night on the same night) I am very pleased with how the team are playing, as well as being ‘good sports’ on the field.

Thanks to all the parents who helped the players get their gear on.

There is no game this coming Saturday due to the Christmas Pageant, so our next game is Saturday 16th November, at Lockleys North Primary School oval at 8:30. We will be playing against Largs Primary School Blue team.

Well done, team.
