A message from our Principal

Dear St. Brendan's School Community,

It's amazing how fast this term has gone.  We have had lots of great learning happening and lots of special events;  Father's Day Stall, Book Week Dress up, Athletics, Arts on Show, Sacramental Program and Parent Teacher Learning Conversations.

Staff have also had two, full day Professional Development Days with Andrea Hillbrick, external Educational Consultant on Reading and Writing.

Staff also completed online modules on Anaphylaxis and Asthma, and after school completed a First Aid practical course on CPR, Anaphylaxis/Epipen's and Asthma.

Naplan

Year 3 and Year 5 children completed their Naplan in May.  We received the results, which parents were given, and we were very pleased with the results.  We had children that did exceedingly well and should be extremely proud of their achievements.

We have had improvement in all areas, which was a fantastic result for our school.

We believe that the work and professional development we have done over the last few years, and our data analysis and tutoring groups, have enabled us to improve in these curriculum areas.

Soccer

Congratulations to our Under 12 Year 6 team on winning the Grand final.  Fantastic effort boys.  Our Under 12 Year 5 team, made it to the Grand final but unfortunately lost, however it was a great effort to get there.  Our Under 10's made a combined team and won the Grand final on Saturday.  We are so proud of you all and great work by our Coaches.

Thanks to Kellie Crosier and Ange Collins for all their organisation and work.

Please see our Soccer photo's in this Newsletter under 'Sporting Club News'.

Athletics Day

It was a fantastic day for our Athletics Day with the sun shining on us.  The events were extremely well organised and ran smoothly.

The Juniors enjoyed their events in the morning and the Middle and Seniors in the afternoon.

The relays were cheered on by the whole school, with teachers being applauded loudly for their efforts.

After very close scoring, Savio won the Sports!

Congratulations to Captains, Abel Chandler and Hannah Radevski and Vice Captains, Gabbie Ballarbare and Tom Collins.

Well done to Goretti on winning the Spirit Award, which was accepted by House Captains, Taha Haroon and Chiara Mori and Vice Captains, Daljot Singh and Nadine Bisimwa.

Many thanks to the fantastic organisation by our P.E. Teacher, Josh Wild.  Josh, with the support from the teachers, came early and set up the activities as well as marking the ground the day before.

Thanks to all our parents who attended on the day.

Fantastic News

Garang Kuol, ex St. Brendan's student who turned 18 today, has been named in the new look 31 man Socceroo's Squad.  We are thrilled with this announcement!

Congratulations to Garang and his parents Mawien and Antonita.  The Kuol's are an extremely talented family, with older brother Alou (playing for VFB Stuttgart) and Teng (playing for Central Coast Mariner's.  Deng (Didi) in Year 6, came back from Sydney last weekend and played in the Under 12 winning Grand final and kicked 3 goals.
