Happy end of term 3!
The preps have enjoyed learning about all different jobs this term. All of the preps have enjoyed selecting a new job for Bluey’s dad Bandit and hearing all our special guest speakers talk about their jobs.
Next term the Foundation students will be investigating the question, how do people impact the environment?
To start the unit the students will be going on an excursion to Gilmore Park.
During the walk we will be:
- looking at the local environment
- noticing manmade and natural objects
- completing mindfulness activities
To complete this excursion, we would like to ask for volunteers to assist us with the walk. You will need a current Working with Children’s Check to attend.
Date: Wednesday the 12th of October
Time: 9.15 to 10.30
Please let Joe know if you can assist with the walk, he can be contacted through Compass.
Have a safe holiday and see you all when we come back in Term 4.

Happy end of Term 3
We have had a very busy term 3. Finishing it off with some leaf rubbing and a Basketball Clinic. Some of the students had never experience leaf rubbing before and were excited with the outcome. The Basketball Clinic was awesome as we discovered that some of our students have potential to be superstars in the sport demonstrating terrific dribbling and ballhandling skills.
Have a safe holiday and see you all when we come back in Term 4.

Grade 2
The Grade 2s have had an exciting end to Term 3.
During writing, we used our learning of explanation texts to create our own - all about how seeds grow! Each class even planted some seeds into a plastic cup and watched it grow in real-time. In Mathematics, we focused on collecting and displaying data in different ways. We loved asking all our classmates various questions such as ‘What is your favourite AFL team?’ using tally marks to collect the data. We then presented our findings using bar and picture graphs.
During our Integrated Curriculum lessons, Grade 2 each chose a natural feature found somewhere in our beautiful country of Australia. After reading different texts to research all about it, they created some fantastic trioramas which turned out great!
This week, the Grade 2s also culminated their research skills, using atlases and other texts, to create a poster all about India. They used facts from their research to create cue cards and practised their oral presentations, before presenting their poster to the class. Each student received some feedback from a classmate - one thing they loved and one thing to remember for next time.
A big thank you to Arwen for all her hard work this term! The Grade 2 team and students will be sad to see you move on to the 3/4s for the remainder of the year. Though we are happy that Rosa will be back on 2A.
Happy Holidays and see you next term!

Grade 3/4
This week the grade 3/4 students presented their projects to the grade 2 students.
The grade 3/4 students have been working on different styles of presentations to educate other students about waste problems, waste solutions, and how to be more sustainable.
The grade 2 students were the authentic audience, and they learnt a lot from our posters, dioramas, songs, videos, and video games.
Then the next day some students presented live performances and videos to the grade 2 students in the performing arts room. There were plays, songs, slideshows, and videos that showed the effects of plastic waste and how to reduce waste in your life.
Here are some photos from the gallery walk exhibition and the performances.
Grade 5/6
5/6 Learning Area - Reading
This term our reading focus has been building student capacity in exploring non fiction texts with a specific focus on informative texts.
We have been focusing on building reading strategies to improve comprehension. The strategies were note taking, paraphrasing, identifying the main idea, synthesising, identifying the structure and different features of an informative text as well as reading and understanding infographics.
The ongoing question throughout the unit was “How would you explain this to a 3/4 student?” This became a great way for students to think about how they would explain these concepts and skills in their own words. This helps them truly understand.
The students completed a portfolio of work that showcased these skills and for an authentic audience, they presented their work to a 3/4 student.
