From the Principal

THANK YOU

The time has come for me to write my very last newsletter as principal of Carnegie Primary School. I am looking forward to writing the next chapter of my life but saying goodbye to all that Carnegie has meant to me, over the last fourteen years, will also be so very hard. The person I am today has been so significantly shaped by my journey as a teacher that commenced nearly 40 years ago.

To have been your principal at Carnegie has been such a privilege and one I have been most grateful for. Over my time at Carnegie, enrolments have grown a great deal as have our facilities which have been enhanced in many ways under a number of capital works projects. I feel very proud when sharing our school with others in person or in conversations. The constant has been the strong sense of community - relationships with staff, colleagues, students and their families, with no two days being the same.

Thanks ever so much to:-

  •  Karen Bentata-Grimm, my Assistant Principal. Karen has been a friend and a much trusted colleague working tirelessly to support me professionally and personally. How very fortunate the next principal will be to work with her.
  •  My school leaders, who invest so much of their time beyond the school day to enhance their learning and work with colleagues to ensure our school’s goals and priorities are at the fore.
  •  All my staff, for your passion caring for CPS students and creating a rewarding learning environment. There has been much to be proud of but I am also aware that together we have, at times, tackled challenges needing to work together to ensure the best for all. CPS is certainly blessed with such a wonderful team of teachers and support staff.
  •  The students, for making CPS a truly very special place. You come to school each day ready to learn and give your best and have so much to be proud of. The students I first met in 2008 are now shaping our world as young adults pursuing many passions.
  •  School Councilors, the members of PFA and all the parents who have supported me over our time together. Some of you I have recently met while for others we have shared many years together. The last few years have certainly thrown obstacles at us but knowing I have had your trust and support has meant much to me.

Over my career I have worked in several schools and each one holds unique memories, but CPS will always hold a very special place in my heart. I wish you all the very best for the remainder of 2022 and beyond. The pressures of recent years have meant that we have had to face challenges we never imagined but it has also shone a light on what schools are to communities. Please stay connected with one another, stay safe and continue to work together to create a wonderful environment where all thrive - Linda 😊
