The History Week theme for 2023, Voices from the Past, is an opportunity to engage with the histories of those who, in the past, were often voiceless such as women, migrants, workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Sometimes these voices were once heard but now sit forgotten in archives. At other times they have been ignored or all but erased.
In History Week in September 2023 students were invited to visit the library to win a prize by guessing famous quotes from famous historic figures. Read more about History Week here : https://historycouncilnsw.org.au/histo.../history-week-2023/
Friday Study Sessions in the library, after school from 1pm - 3pm, have been busier than ever. This is a new initiative from our Deputy Principal to help our Year 12 students study and improve their attendance. Students have been reporting lots of meaningful work happening during this time, which is great feedback. Year 12 students are encouraged to use the library as a resource in the lead up to the HSC. Blacktown Library and the State Library are also great places to study, with study guides and notes to help students maximise their ATARs.
The library also celebrated Book Week in Weeks 6 and 7 and embraced the theme of "Read, Grow and Inspire" with fun craft activities. Books can ignite our imagination, nurture our minds and spark positive change in our lives. Students are encouraged to visit the library regularly to read, research, create, work and study.
