Learning and Teaching

Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (S.T.E.M.) at St Louis'

This term our focus for learning is in the Science Domain. The science curriculum is organised in a two year cycle with the emphasis for this year being in Physics and Earth and Space strands.  The skills of science are built upon each year as your child progresses. These include questioning and predicting, planning and conducting, recording and processing, analysing and evaluating and communicating observations, ideas and findings leading to the use of evidence to support explanations.

Next week is national science week with the theme being Innovation: Powering Future Industries. We are excited to welcome our families in for our Main Event - The Festival of Learning.  This is taking place on Thursday the 17 August from 4.30 - 6.30pm. There are many exciting things happening including our Mathematics Games Night which will run from 4.40 - 5.30pm for our Prep to Year 2 classes and from 5.40pm to 6.30pm for our students in Year 3 to Year 6. Some of our student leaders will guide you through the many different Mathematics games on offer and they will also act as guides in the STEM space. In conjunction with the activities listed, all of our classrooms and specialists are providing interactive experiences related to the learning that is occurring.

A scavenger hunt has been established to encourage  our community to explore the many different learning spaces and crack the code. This will be provided as an adventure map on arrival and rewards will be provided.

We are eager for you all to come and join us on this adventure as you are given the opportunity to navigate your way through the St Louis Galaxy.
