Yr 12, Class of 2017 Reflection

By Tanya Van Seters (Head of Primary Sport, Sports Co-ordinator and Yr 12 HHD Teacher)
In 2014, when I started working at Belgrave Heights Christian School, I had the privilege of teaching an incredible group of Year 9 students. Fast-forward four years, and this week I proudly watched that same cohort finish their final year of schooling at BHCS.
As I reflect upon my time with the Year 12 students, and all the memories we have shared together, these are my concluding thoughts.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” - Timothy 4:12
Many in the Year 12 cohort have endeavoured to set an example to the wider School community in the way they’ve conducted themselves. There have been countless times where, as staff, we have witnessed students go above and beyond to share their faith and love for others. Whether it be running devotions for younger classes, leading assemblies, organising fundraisers, facilitating bible studies, or being part of lunchtime activities. This Year 12 group has played an active role in making our School community a unique and faith-filled place. As staff, it has been an honour to provide opportunities for the Year 12 students to utilise their God-given strengths and abilities. We have seen students rise to the challenge that leadership often presents, and in doing so they have impacted many people.
“We want each of you to show diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realised.” - Hebrews 6:11
Overall, the Year 12 students have shown a deep sense of commitment to their schooling. Even though this year has presented an array of challenges, they have persevered and applied themselves to the task-at-hand. As staff, we believe each student has incredible potential to succeed in whatever they choose to pursue. We look forward to continuing to champion each student as they leave this School community and enter into whatever God has for them next.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11
Finally, my prayer is that the Year 12 students will finish knowing that they have left a lasting legacy on this School. May they leave knowing how loved and cherished they are, not only by the staff and students at BHCS, but more importantly, by their Heavenly Father.
As a member of the wider School community, would you join with the staff in continuing to pray for them as they sit their exams and make important decisions about next year and beyond.
Congratulations Class of 2017! You go with our fondest farewells, best wishes and an abundance of prayers.
