Year Six

Dear Families,

The grade six team wishes to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to our school community. With profound appreciation, we acknowledge the invaluable role you play in shaping their experiences and paving the way for our student's bright futures.

Exhibition:

It has been an exciting time for our students who are hard at work on their exhibition topics. With creativity and dedication, they are beginning to craft impactful actions in response to their chosen topic. Students have been encouraged by their mentors to define the purpose of their actions.

The students have been diligently constructing models, producing inventive products, crafting compelling posters, capturing thought-provoking videos, and even designing engaging websites.

The impending exhibition promises to be an enlightening experience for the wider community as our students unveil their creations to the public, sharing their deep understanding of their topic.

Literacy:

In Writing,  students have been making impressive strides in mastering the art of information reports. Students have been delving into the intricacies of this genre, gaining a keen understanding of its unique features. By immersing themselves in the intricacies of the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, students have honed their skills in structuring information coherently and engagingly.

It's exciting to witness their growth as they've embraced the challenge of planning and creating an information report centred around the topic of Old Technology. Exciting pieces of work coming soon.

Mathematics:

In Mathematics, our students have been immersed in the fascinating realm of fractions. With each passing day, their strides towards proficiency are quite commendable. Students have been hard at work mastering the various concepts of fractions such as:

  • Comparing fractions
  • Placing fractions on number lines
  •  Adding and subtracting fractions.
  • Solving fraction word problems
  • Converting between improper and mixed fractions

It has been a joy to witness their journey as they continue to build a solid understanding of fractions.

Summer Sports Day:

With the sun shining bright and spirits even brighter, our Grade Six Summer Sports Day unfolded as a testament to dedication, teamwork, and the embodiment of our College values. It was a day where our students transformed into athletes, displaying remarkable sportsmanship that resonated with our  school community. The Rounders team secured a remarkable 2nd place, the Softball team demonstrated their prowess finishing 3rd overall, while our resilient Cricket team poured their efforts throughout the day. The crowning achievement came from our tennis team, reigning supreme in 1st place, earning themselves an invitation to the upcoming district competition. Through every triumph and effort, these students showcased the true essence of unity and perseverance, reflecting the very heart of our school's values. Well done to all.
