Year Five
Dear Year 5 families,
Our students have persisted through their learning challenges and displayed many of our approaches to learning skills, such as research, thinking and social skills.
Unit of Inquiry
In Inquiry, students have been exploring technology through the line of inquiry of 'How technology has evolved over time.' The students have explored different industries, and how they have developed.
Writing
In Writing, students have been planning their information reports about the primary industry, researching into all the different sectors that gather our raw materials. They used their research skills to gather important information about their topic and paraphrased their findings into their own words.
Reading
In Reading, students have been learning to paraphrase different texts we read together and then applying it to their own reading. Paraphrasing is a very important skill when writing about the ideas of others and retelling important information from stories. We'll be continuing to practise these skills throughout the next 2 weeks.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been continuing to work on their goal for Money and Financial Mathematics. They have been given opportunities to solve money problems at their level in both independent tasks and in focus groups.
