Athletics Day

Our School Athletics Carnival was an absolute hit!! The sun was shining, the oval was pristine, the costumes were on point, and the participation levels were high.

Over the course of the day we held over 60 field events, placing 1-3 in almost all of them, we held over 75 track events, placing at least 1-4 in all of them (up to 8 for each of the 15 100m heats). This gives us a participation level of over 800 participants in events. The most we have had in many years. With numbers like this, it isn’t surprising that we have invited a team of 70 students to attend East Gippsland Athletics and represent the College. Hopefully all can attend, and we can show the other schools how track and field is done.

For any Year 7 student who is worried about the clash of athletics and camp, don’t stress, there are options. Please see Miss Poynton in the Year 7 hub.

The staff were out in full force for the staff versus student relay, with 5 staff teams taking on the 12 student teams. There were mixed results, but smiles all around, and no strained muscles to any staff members.

A big congratulations to Dargo on being the winning house on 826 points.

Final results were:

  • Curlip – 325 points
  • Bogong – 529 points
  • Tarra – 600 points
  • Tambo – 610 points
  • Tanjil – 728 points
  • DARGO – 826 points

Victorian Clay Target Association, South East Zone School Championship

There were 4 students in total from our College, Jake, Sara , Raymond  and Kate who participated in the South East Zone School Clay Target Championship. They all demonstrated the school values and represented our College with pride.

  • Raymond competed in the senior boys finishing 14th out of 40 Senior boys
  • Kate Perry competed in Senior Girls finishing 13th out of 15 Senior girls
  • Sara Melrose competed in Junior Girls finishing in 3rd place out of 5 junior girls
  • Jack competed in Junior Boys finishing 2nd out of 39 junior boys

This means that both Jack and Sara by finishing second and third respectively in their category have now qualified for the State final to be held at Echuca on the 4th of September. All students conducted themselves professionally and respectfully.

Congratulations, and we wish them all the best!

Lunch Time Activities – The BARC/yard

It is always great to see a number of students organising and participating in physical activity at lunch times. The BARC is always open during break 1 and we regularly have students playing basketball, volleyball or badminton. If you’d like to set up a netball ring or soccer goal, please just ask the teacher on duty.

Basketballs have previously been at the Hubs for borrowing at lunch times, however they seem to grow legs after break 1. If you borrow a Hub basketball, please make sure you return it, the colour of the basketball identifies which Hub it belongs to.

  • Green basketball – Year 7 Hub
  • Yellow basketball – Year 8/9 Hub
  • Orange basketball – Senior Hub
  • Pink basketball - Wellbeing

If you would like to borrow other equipment for lunch time activities, please just ask 😊
