Celebrating Science

This semester students have been working through a chemistry unit called 'Properties of a Substance'. In this unit they learn about the 3 states of matter and their properties, phase changes , density and biodegradability. 

For this unit students completed multiple practicals that include colour density water and rainbow water. Students were super keen to do the experiments because they got to refine their Bunsen Burner skills.

The other topics for this semester are Ecosystems and Separation Techniques. In these topics students learn about different types of resources and design a water filter. The squid dissection in the ecosystem unit is a highlight of the term. 

Next year students complete more dissections in the Body Systems unit and learn more about chemistry, specifically the different molecules and compounds.
