Parks Victoria Path Upgrade Works

Parks Victoria have informed us about some works to the pathways in the park near school which may impact families in the next few weeks.

Albert Park has been selected to receive funding from the Urban Parks Active Wellbeing project. The Urban Parks Active Wellbeing Program is a $21 million project funded by the Victorian Government, delivering upgrades to 21 parks across Melbourne, to ensure they continue to support healthy communities. Further information on the program can be found here https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/projects/melbourne-region/urban-parks-active-wellbeing-program

As mentioned one of the projects for Albert Park is path works between Fitzroy St and Oval 1 (see attached Map).

The works include:

  • Installation of a new 2m wide asphalt path from the cnr of Lakeside Dr and Fitzroy St, with concrete edge. This will follow the current “goat track”
  • Reinstatement of the existing asphalt path and concrete edge on the Brachychiton lined paths (see attached map)

The works are scheduled to commence with temp fence installed around the current goat track on Monday 7th August. The works are expected to take 2-3 weeks. As the works progress areas of the path network will be closed off with local signed detours.
