John XXIII College Alumni 

JTA Hockey Club

Over the March long weekend three teams associated with the JTA Hockey Club ventured up to Singapore for the annual Singapore Sixes Hockey Tournament, played on the Padang at the majestic Singapore Cricket Club.

 

This year the Owls and Hawks men’s teams were joined by the Flaming Galahs women’s team, who debuted in Singapore.

 

As the name suggests, the Singapore Sixes is a six a side competition played on a two thirds side pitch. This year there were 40 men’s and 26 women’s teams, coming from Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and a number of teams from WA.  Players included a number of current and former international and provincial players and the competition was fierce.

 

Our teams comprised of John XXIII College and St Louis Alumni including Darren Miller, Ben Pickering and James O’Beirne (Class 1989), Jeremy Walsh (Class 1977) and Paul Benetti (Class 1980), Amanda Darbyshire (Class 1994) and Annabel Limmer (Class 2008).  There were also a number of parents of John XXIII College students, past and present.

 

A great weekend was had by all, both on and off the pitch.
