Pathways and Transition

Earn while you learn with a school-based traineeship

John XXIII College is currently offering a high-quality VET pathway in to the health sector to five students. Anabel Stefels, Blake Mitchell and Skye Willson  in Year 12 and Bridie Macintyre,  Chloe Margaria in Year 11 are all completing a traineeship as part of their studies. Working in partnership with the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Tubal, students spend one day a week working at the Aegis aged care facility at Montgomery House, next to John XXII College, whilst completing a nationally recognised VET qualification.

This opportunity not only enables these students to achieve a Certificate III Health Services Assistance, whilst still at school, it also enables them to gain valuable paid experience in the workplace. By the end of Year 12 they will have hundreds of hours of experience in health services and be able to transition into tertiary nursing studies at University or TAFE.  They will also be qualified to work in a hospital as a Nursing Assistant.

For further information on this opportunity or other pathways offered at John XXIII College in Years 11 and 12 contact Joel Wynn – Head of Pathways and Transitions.
