Director of Pastoral Care

In the past two weeks I have had the opportunity to speak about the pride of being a part of the Marian Community on numerous occasions but there are two moments that stand out. One being the Avanti Breakfast that was held on our College grounds last week on the 1st of this month, and a conversation started around the table (that was a mix of community members and staff) around how proud we must be of such a beautiful school that we have. I was honoured to hear such feedback and replied with an outstanding ‘yes, we are’.

The second occasion was our College Morning Briefing held this week on Thursday where we were reminded of one of the reasons that makes this school so beautiful and that was the support staff. We all took a moment to acknowledge the efforts of the support staff here at Marian and how they help Marian create such a beautiful environment for our students. It was here that I stood in front of the whole College and stated how proud I was to work and be a member of the Marian community. This pride is what I believe is the Marian vision and what keeps us moving forward. It is the reason why it is important to have segments such as ‘The Marian Way’ below. I truly am proud to work and lead at Marian and the many programs and initiatives we have here in place looking after the wellbeing of our students. Academic Pastoral Care is one of those programs and in the next two weeks we have two session coming up and I will report on these in our next newsletter. In these sessions College pride is something that is fostered and at the briefing we asked the students to think about this and how they can show it more in their everyday actions. We have started a conversation around showing our pride here and I hope this will continue.

Marian Way

This week’s acknowledgement of the Marian Way was recommended by our Yr 8 Pastoral Coordinator Mrs Calabria who nominated Alexis McMaster.

Once again this section is to congratulate and shine a light on students and staff that are living the Marian way. I have been told Alexis has been donating her own hair on numerous occasions for charity in the past. This is a wonderful action from such a young member of our community and an outstanding example for her peers. Therefore, congratulations Alexis for showing us all ‘The Way’ and I hope here at Marian you are encouraged to continue. You should be very proud.

If you are aware of students or staff that you believe deserve a mention in this segment, please let us at the College know. You can send your example to nevilleh@ww.catholic.edu.au.

Best wishes from the Pastoral Team
