Director of Learning Innovation Report

The Return

As you know, we will be returning to face to face teaching over the next few weeks. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our community for the work that has been done to make online learning a success for our students. Teachers, support staff and LSOs have worked hard to facilitate the transition to online. I would like to thank parents for being very close partners with us in making sure learning is happening at home. Finally, I would like to thank students for their resilience and patience during this difficult time.

On Monday 25 May, teachers will have the opportunity to plan for the switch back to face to face teaching. Senior students will return on Tuesday 26 May and other year levels will return on 9 June. During our time of online learning we have all learned many new things, including the use of Zoom and Google Classroom. Teachers will continue to use Google Classroom. This means that students will have a one stop place to go online to check the lessons and homework for the day.

The Wellbeing and Learning Teams will be planning and thinking together about how to support our students as they return to school. Teachers will be working strategically to engage and motivate students back in the face to face environment. This has been a challenging time for our Year 12 students in particular. The VCAA have extended the amount of time that students have to complete Unit 3 for all subjects. The content of Unit 4 has been reduced and the date of the end of year exams has been extended to December. We will update you as soon as we now details of events such as the end of year exams and the GAT.

I look forward to greeting our students in person, even if it is from a correct social distance! If you would like to discuss any learning matters, please contact me at the College on 9790 8130 or email learning@nazareth.vic.edu.au
