Vinnies Winter Appeal

The freezing conditions of the weekend just past is a timely reminder of just how fortunate we are to have warm, cosy homes to shelter in, comfortable beds to sleep in at night, and enough food that we never feel hungry.

Sadly, this is certainly not the case for the homeless people within our community. While we self-isolate at home over the next few weeks, I challenge the whole Nazareth Community to stop and think about what it would be like to have no home to isolate in, to struggle to keep warm and dry, and to not really know where your next meal was coming from. I daresay for all of us, it is just too hard to imagine.

So, here is the challenge I present to you.

Given that we are not at school to run our Winter Appeal, this does not mean that we cannot help the most vulnerable in our community. Instead of Pastoral Teachers nagging you all daily, to bring in non- perishable food items, I want you all to consider the needs of others in a very practical way.

I challenge every member of the Nazareth Community, staff and students, to fill a shopping bag of items ready to bring to school when we return.

Imagine seeing 600 students walking into the school grounds carrying their shopping bag.

Imagine what we could all do to ease the burden of those less fortunate.

Imagine what we, as a community, could achieve.

Imagine.

2020 Science Talent Search

I encourage you to participate in the 2020 Science Talent Search this year.

Please email me your name  and PG, along with the category that you would be interested in by Friday 15 May.

In these extraordinary times, this is a great competition to participate in.

I really hope to see the young scientist in all of you rise to this challenge.
