Grade One Plasticine Portraits
The 'Learning Intention' for this lesson was to develop the students' sculpturing skills by getting them to make a self portrait in plasticine. They learnt how to flatten the plasticine, make a coil and ball and how to texture.
The students started with a small block of plasticine which they had to make pliable. This was shaped into a head and neck by pushing it down onto the sheet of cardboard. Fine detailed features were encouraged. A bamboo skewer was used to create texture and to help with the placement of the small pieces of plasticine.
Everyone had so much fun and the artwork was amazing. Well done, Year One.
