Time sure is flying this term with many, many things going on around our school. Just this morning I had the opportunity to celebrate a day for our writers at Beaumaris Secondary College. An excellent initiative that Kingswood proudly participated in, congratulations to our writing winners from across all year levels.

Fundraising for our quadrangle project sits at $20,000 this year. Unfortunately, this is $7,000 less than last year with 30 more students at Kingswood in 2019. I implore all families to support this whole school initiative that will benefit all students Prep to Year 6.

Our off-year senior students are excited to perform for you in their Iconic Music concert  next week. Children are excited to perform for you.  Against historical data we actually have 2 sold out evenings, this was not expected. If you have missed out on purchasing tickets you can contact the school via email and get tickets to our dress rehearsal next Monday at 1.30pm, however, seats are limited. In just 5 weeks students have put together a great concert for your entertainment. I am sure you will be proud.

We recently had Karen Boyes provide a day of professional development for staff. One of my take-a-ways for the day was that we need to ensure we allow children to experience failure, challenge and disappointment. We are an observational species and your reaction to these experiences is how your children will model their responses and behaviours. Think of that bank TV commercial of the child mimicking the parents. It is an imperfect science with lots of potholes along the way but try and be their parent all the time, not your children’s best friend at this stage in their life. Best friends can become a goal after your children have developed numerous strategies to support resilience and grit, not when they are in primary school and when they need you the most to help them build these skill sets.

Have a great weekend everyone.
