Year 2 - Money, Money, Money, Money....Money!

The Year 2's started Term 3 focusing on Money.

We have looked at Australian coins and notes and their value.

Each class decided on what shop they wanted in their class. 2B have the Australia Post Shop and 2F have an Art and Crafts Shop. We made signs, collected items, set prices and described our stock.

Check out our photos below. We have also been looking at our Lunch Order list and creating our dream lunch order. I wonder if our dreams will come true!!!!

Beachside Soccer Tournament

On the 24th of July, the Boys Soccer Team competed in the Beachside Soccer Tournament. We had previously won the Dendy District Tournament so on the bus, we were feeling confident.

Once we arrived, we organised our spot and got our shin pads and boots on. We put our tracksuit pants and our jackets on because we had a bye for the first game. After 15 minutes had passed, we were called to the middle of the park for the rules and regulations. We were in Pool A with Toorak and Elsternwick. We were then told by Mr. Coaley to scout the first match in our pool. We gazed at the game and were amazed at the talent showed from Toorak. They won against Elsternwick 5-0.

We had five minutes to warm up and take the field. First we played Toorak, the team that we watched win by a lot. When the whistle blew, we knew that it was game on. We got a corner 10 minutes into the game and Mark stood over the ball to take it. Mark curled it in and Dylan finished it off into the invincible net (because there was no net). Toorak came back strong from the kick and managed to slide one past Luke (Unlucky Luke)! Then the whistle blew. Mr. Coaley gave a motivational speech saying that he would be happy if we kept it 1-1. We took the field and were trying to defend well. Ten minutes shy of the whistle, Toorak sneaked through our defence, and Luke was already out of position so Toorak scored again (Once again, unlucky Luke!) The final whistle blew and we were devastated.

We then had no time to prepare for the next game. This was a must win game for both teams as the 2 top teams got through to the semis. We knew we could do it and started out strong. It was a tough game with lots of back and forth play but we managed to win, 3-1 which secured our place in the semis against whoever won pool B.

It was time to play the 3rd and last game against Westbourne Grammar. We started with a 4-3-3 formation but that was not strong enough to defend their attacking plays. The team had a talk at half time, we said we will play a 5-3-2 and then we could attack without the thoughts of losing the ball and copping a goal. In the end we lost 8-2.

We all had an Amazing time and the Year Fives are excited for next year. Thank you to Mr. Coaley and Tegan for making this day possible. Also a big thanks to Mr Tobin,  although he unfortunately could not attend the day.
