Learning in J01

Junior School J01 Dougall is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

It has been a busy and exciting start to the year in J01. Our students have been busy getting used to the routine of school and have enjoyed visiting their specialist classes each week. 

 In our Reading lessons, we have been exploring nursery rhymes through role play and craft. We have been introduced to the characters in Milo's Birthday Surprise as we begin our phonics instruction. So far we have met Milo the Monkey, Sally the Snake, Felix the Frog and Ally Aligator. In Maths we have explored counting small collections, capacity and shape.

We had lots of fun comparing the capacity of different sized containers in the sandpit! We have been focussing on writing our name ‘the school way’ with a capital letter at the start followed by lower case and have done lots of fine motor work and play as we get to know each other.

The students have been very excited to practice our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience and it has been great to be able to acknowledge that positive behaviour with Froggy Dollars.
