Year 6 Graduation

On Friday 10th December, our Year 6 students celebrated their graduation. It consisted of a day full of fun activities, beginning with a variety of team games outside on the oval. The students were divided into their house colours and competed against each other. They loved the competition and it was a great way to build camaraderie amongst the students.

Afterwards, the students practised their graduation dance outside in the ampitheatre. A big well done to the students for the time and effort they put into their dance. It was all definitely worth it in the end. Thank you to Mrs Ithier and Miss Maio who were the main choreographers of the dance. They did a fantastic job with support from Mr Ru.

Following the dance, the students played dodgeball. This was the perfect opportunity to hone in on their skills as they were about to face off with the teachers after snack.

It was finally time! The moment all the Year 6 students had been waiting for - Teachers vs Students. Everyone gathered on the oval straight after snack. The teachers began warming up and stretching to prevent any injuries. The students waited eagerly for the whistle to blow. It began. Havoc was unleashed. Dodgeballs flew in all directions. No one was safe, even Mr Mullaly who had a ball thrown in his face! Both sides gave it their all and it ended in a draw.

Following Teachers vs Students, the students gathered in the Performing Arts area where tables and chairs were set up. They each received a special personalised grazing box. We blasted some music and enjoyed one of the last opportunities we would gather and eat together as a group.

After lunch, the students had an opportunity to get their bear or school uniform signed. It was great to see them all so excited and keen to obtain as many signatures as possible. This brought us to the end of the Graduation Day. Students went home and began preparing for the ceremony, set to begin at 4:30pm.

Soon it was 4:15pm and the students and their families began flooding into the church. There was a buzz of excitement and nerves in the air. Although the ceremony went for longer than expected, it was a great way to celebrate and finish off a challenging year. It was heartwarming to see the reactions of the students who received the awards. It was hilarious yet amazing to see the transformation within each student through the face morphing video. Each and every student has come such a long way and the teachers couldn’t be any more proud.

Once the ceremony was over, everyone migrated over to the amphitheatre. Families gathered around and the students got into their starting positions. There was a moment of silence until the song started blasting from the speaker. It was awesome to see all of the students’ hard work over the past couple of weeks come to life. All spectators were incredibly impressed with the effort the students had put in.

Overall, it was a busy day, but surely a day that all the teachers and students involved will remember for a long time to come. A big thank you to all of the teachers who helped make this day a success!
